Meet your guide

My name is Romy. I grew up in Leipzig, Germany. My itchy feet took me to London to study and I ended up staying for twenty years.

My background is in art history and arts management, and I worked in the arts and cultural sector and for creative festivals in the UK.

Ten years ago, romance brought me to Oslo, and I have been here ever since.

The Tours

Before starting Oslo By Heart, I spent years in the Oslo tour industry, writing itineraries and scripts for other companies. I learned a lot about what makes a good tour. I also learned what I would do differently.

Oslo By Heart started because I wanted to offer something I could not find elsewhere as a guide: a tour that is honest about the city rather than promotional, that assumes guests want more than the standard script, and that leaves room for unexpected conversations.

How it works

Groups are small by design. I would rather guide eight people properly than move twenty people from monument to monument. Every walk is led by me, not a rotation of staff.

Tours run in English and German, my native languages. I live in Grünerløkka, which I know especially well, and which is the focus of one of the two tours.

I look forward to showing you the city.
